“Travel is more than the seeing of sights. It is a change that goes on, deep & permanent in the ideas of living.” Miriam Beard
I have found the most kindred of spirits in Jenna. This week she was kind enough to let me crash on her couch in GP & we spent so much time swapping travel stories. We talked a lot about how traveling allows you to find yourself. & it gives you this time & grace to get to know who you are & who you want to be. Jenna spent this last year traveling the world, not in search of something or someone but instead in search of experience, in culture, in language. In search of the truest forms of joy & the hardest form of pain. She spent a few weeks in Haiti & nursed a boy back to health. She ran the Swiss city marathon. She hiked the Grand Canyon. She trained in rally car school in London. She did all of these amazing things not for someone, but for herself. She became true to herself. She stepped outside of the norm, outside of her comfort zone to really push the limits & to find who she was. She still has a lot of places on her list & a lot of adventures to experience but Jenna, let me tell you what I see in who you’ve become. You are one of the kindest, most welcoming people I’ve ever known. You’re heart is made of gold & you are intelligent & thoughtful in all of the words you say. You make struggle look beautiful & you come alive when you talk about your trips. What I love most about you, is that you never settle. You never allow yourself to get less than what you deserve, & I admire that so greatly. You are compassionate, hilarious and truly have the softest most welcoming heart. Your presences instantly makes me feel at home. I appreciate you so much & can not wait to swap travel stories when our paths cross again.
