Sydney & Spencer are hilarious & adorable. We adventured to Banff for their engagement shoot & it was nothing short of amazing! They are so easy going & so much fun to be around. Their energy & love is something I admire & I can not wait for their July Wedding in Edmonton!
“She knew she loved him when “home” went from being a place, to a person.”
Sarah & Ryan met last summer & fell in deep love, so it was no surprise when Ryan told me that he was going to buy a ring & get down on one knee. Ryan & I have been solid friends for forever so I was SOOO stoked when he asked me to be part of one of the bigger moments of his life. We went location scouting & we found this lovely open field at White Mud Park & planned it out perfectly so Sarah would have no idea it was coming. We started the session off with simple portraits & them being freaking adorable (as always). I took some single portraits of Ryan AND THEN, it was time for me to be super stealthy & just take photos of Sarah. We did some simple ones of her looking at the camera & then I asked her to turn around, face the sun, close her eyes & to sway in the sun. (I told her I was trying this new thing & just made it all sound super legit mwhaha). While I was taking photos of Sarah, Ryan was getting the ring & rose out of my bag- & as he walked towards her, I walked away & IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. Ryan told Sarah all of the ways that he loved her & told her that he would choose her, everyday from now until forever. Then he got down on one knee, (I was already crying at this point so I could barley see what was happening through my lens) & she said HECK YES!
I left the session on a high- I couldn’t stop shaking & smiling. The love between these two is something that I simply admire. They couldn’t stop crying, smiling & hugging & I am SOOO thankful that they trusted me enough to capture their story <3
“I love you on rainy days. When we sit and listen to the rain whilst cuddled up in blankets. When I fall asleep on your chest and you kiss my forehead to wake me up. When I tell you I love your voice as much as I love the sound of the rain.
I love you on sunny days. When we lie on our backs and watch the clouds go by and we run through the sunflowers fields. When your eyes sparkle in the sunshine and you kiss my suntanned cheek.
I love you on stormy days. When things feel dark and the thunder scares me. When you hold me tight and swear to never let me go. When you promise to stay until the storm passes.
I love you on snowy days. When you laugh as I dance around in the snowfall and kiss me in the blizzard. When you notice how my eyes gleam when everything is covered in white. When we cuddle on the couch, desperately trying to stay warm.
I love you through all the seasons, through the sunshine and rain and storm and snow and change.”
I haven’t know Kaihla & Mark for a very long time but I instantly saw how DEEPLY they loved & how deeply they loved each other. They are kind, caring people who constantly welcome people into their life & into their home. I have learnt so much from them in the past two months; about the true meaning of community & what really makes a successful business. I am so thankful for their hearts & for allowing me to capture the beauty that their love is. Kaihla & Mark feel secure & safe in their dwelling place so we wanted to do this shoot in their home. The place that they would be able to feel comfortable & completely themselves. Thank you Kaihla & Mark for allowing me to watch your beautiful story unfold. I love being a part of it! xo.
